Been thinking about the people who hold down different domains so I can push in MULTIPLE FUCKING DIRECTIONS:
MY WIFE: She has supported the house, the children, and the gym. She stood by me through addiction and recovery. She’s been a phenomenal partner throughout life. I’m honored to have shared what I’ve shared with her. We’ll still be partners with Joe and in a lot of things for the rest of our lives together, but for now we’re going our separate ways on many of our projects. It is what it is. It’s unfortunate, but she deserves to be honored for everything she’s done.
CHRIS AT THE DATA CENTER: I’ve been at the Data Center since 1999. It’s been my safe place, even though it’s hectic and crazy. It’s where the servers are, where the computers and racks and infrastructure live. Outside of my family, IT infrastructure has been the thing I’ve protected more than anything else in my life. The Data Center is wildly important to me, and it is to Chris too. I can feel it because he takes care of it. That matters to me. It’s rare to find someone who cares about something as much as I do, and with Chris there, I have extreme confidence in the Data Center.
COACH KELLY AT BOXSTL: Stepping up huge. For the first time I can take my eye off the gym knowing it’s in good hands. Box STL is me and my wife’s creation. We built it together through my addiction recovery and everything after. When you see someone leave our gym and you can see on their face that they got what they needed… there’s NOTHING like it. We get to give this gift to people who need it.
MY DAUGHTER: 18 years old with a good head on her shoulders. She was with me every day in early recovery. Don’t know if I could have made it without her. Hope she knows that.
MY SON JOE: He gives me life and connection in a way the world understands without explanation. When I tell people I have a son, they just get it.
ALL THE BRIANS: Entrepreneur Brian, Buddy Brian, Bro Brian, Masculine Brian. LOTS OF BRIANS for lots of different advice. It’s fucked up but it works.
WHY I DO IT THIS WAY: This is the only way I know how to live without getting angry at life. I’ve tried focusing on one thing, but it doesn’t work for my brain. I get frustrated when I can’t explore in multiple directions. Gary Vee would say chase your passions even if they’re fractured. Most entrepreneurs say focus on one thing.
I’M DOING WHAT WORKS FOR MY BRAIN. Without these people managing different domains, I couldn’t push like this. I’m very fucking grateful.
